Cars constantly speed on Asylum Street, though the limit is 25. I live near a crosswalk where no one ever stops for pedestrians. No one seems to pay attention to the possibility that a pedestrian is waiting to cross. I have never seen anyone pulled over for speeding, though police cruisers constantly drive thru.
There are many children living on this busy street, and I worry that my kids will be hit while walking the dog or waiting to cross to the neighborhood on the other side of Asylum. There is also frequent noise when trailers are pulled at speeds exceeding the speed limit at random times - day and night.
Speed bumps would allow continued use of the through-way, while passively discouraging speeding and encouraging drivers to pay attention to the road. They would pose a minimal cost to taxpayers in town, when compared to the possible liabilities associated with pedestrian death on public streets.

The intersection is considered very dangerous within our community. At both sides, we have traffic going straight, left, right all at the same time.
