I’m a young adult turning 26. I have lived in norwich most of my life. I was raised in these neighborhoods and was proud to be apart of the YMCA and also the camp they provided in the summer.
These kids are forced to hang out in the streets or wait around for the season for them to engage in sport activities. These kids and teenagers need something to be involved in all year, not just the summer time.
If we care about this city and want to see people give back, we need to give them a space to be positive and offer them activities not only in the YMCA but branch out to help other teens in the community to join and take part. Little programs can be implemented as well, like a Home Economics program, A JROTC for those who want to sever their country and can learn respect and follow order at a young age, Leadership program , even something to help clean up neighborhoods for the young adults or teenagers. There’s so many programs we can offer from this. IT SHOULD NOT BE A PARKING AREA!

After the COVID-19 is all held under control I think we should focus on the sidewalks. I was walking down Williams St. by NFA one day and I tripped and fell and cut open my elbow, it didn't get infected and I didn't need stitches but it still hurt! Also sometimes I drive down Rockwell and see the condition of the sidewalks and not that anyone with 0.05 brain cells would walk up that giant hill but if you were walking up or down it you could trip and fall down the hill, and nobody wants that to happen so when you can, fix the sidewalks

Cars constantly speed on Asylum Street, though the limit is 25. I live near a crosswalk where no one ever stops for pedestrians. No one seems to pay attention to the possibility that a pedestrian is waiting to cross. I have never seen anyone pulled over for speeding, though police cruisers constantly drive thru.
There are many children living on this busy street, and I worry that my kids will be hit while walking the dog or waiting to cross to the neighborhood on the other side of Asylum. There is also frequent noise when trailers are pulled at speeds exceeding the speed limit at random times - day and night.
Speed bumps would allow continued use of the through-way, while passively discouraging speeding and encouraging drivers to pay attention to the road. They would pose a minimal cost to taxpayers in town, when compared to the possible liabilities associated with pedestrian death on public streets.

The intersection is considered very dangerous within our community. At both sides, we have traffic going straight, left, right all at the same time.

Norwich can be so much more. The idea is the town creates an accountability system for littering and improper trash disposal and collection, in addition to allowing volunteers to pick up trash of any kind found on the ground and disposing it at the transfer station without cost to the volunteers. Parks to have more effective trash bins installed so that the trash can be contained.

I once visited a town where they had a Recycling / Reusing center at their dump. It consisted of a small barn type building that had various sections marked off so that if someone wanted to get rid of a usable toilet or building supplies or household goods - they could leave them off, and others could take what they might want / need.
Seems better then leaving it on the side of the road.
