The Police Department's activities include:
- Preventative planning for public safety
- Enforcement of laws
- Administration of police personnel
- Traffic authority
- Issuance and recording of permits for vendors, auctioneers, and firearms

PUBLIC NOTICE
The Norwich Police Department has applied for funds in the amount of $15,825 under the 2019 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program established within the United States Department of Justice. Said funding is to be used to purchase mobile phone data extraction equipment and other evidence collection material. The program requires public participation in the process and the ability to comment.
